There’s no better way to spend a summers day in Gothenburg than on a guided boat tour of the stunning archipelago. Experience Sweden’s natural beauty for yourself and cruise along the water to enjoy a two-and-a-half-hour ride on the M/S S:t Erik.
Running during the summer months only, make the most of the bright sunny days and see Sweden’s famous natural beauty from the comfort of your own seat, passing the harbour and historic Älvsborg Fortress along the way, two of Gothenburg’s most important landmarks.
Take in the views along the waterway and bustling harbour and look out towards the picturesque islands. Gothenburg’s archipelago is made up of 20 islands stretching out from the coastline, including stunning beaches, and tiny rural villages – so don’t forget your camera!
You’ll also pass the historic Älvsborg Fortress, the large sea fortress at the mouth of the Göta River in Rivö fjord, on one of the islands. Your guide will be able to tell you about the significance of this 17th-century fortress and the defensive part it played in Gothenburg’s history.

You cannot pre-book a sightseeing tour and tickets are subject to availability.
Getting in: go directly to the boat approximately 20 minutes before departure and show your pass to the staff onboard.
Top tip: during high season (July-August) it is a good idea to collect your sightseeing tour ticket early the same day from the outdoor sales staff at one of the locations below to avoid your desired tour being fully booked.
In June, outdoor sales staff can be found at Stora Teatern, 10AM – 3:15PM
Between July 5 and August 11, outdoor sales staff are at the following locations:
Stora Teatern: 9:30AM - 4:45PM (lunch break 12:30PM – 1PM)
Kungsportsplatsen: 10:30AM - 5PM (lunch break 12PM – 12:30PM)
Lejontrappan: 10:45AM - 4:30PM (lunch break 12PM – 12:30PM)
Lilla Bommen: 10:30AM - 4:40PM (lunch break 12:30PM – 1PM)
